Gail Sheffler On Not Losing Yourself When Caregiving for a Loved One

Gail Sheffler, a family caregiver for her husband for 4 years before his recent passing is the first Bounce Back podcast guest in a new series called Caregivers for Caregivers. This series is in response to the desire, within the family caregiver community, to engage with fellow caregivers who have like-minded issues, needs and most importantly experiences.

Gaily kindly and unselfishly agreed to have a candid conversation with Bounce Back to help fellow family caregivers who may be in the middle of their own active caregiver journey or have already made the difficult life transition after a loved one’s passing.

Our free-flowing discussion covers topics including what she learned about herself during her caregiving experience, how she evolved in her role, the importance of maintaining her husband’s dignity through her care, how to find time for self-care, community building, asking for help and much more.

When asking others for help and support be very specific about your needs.
