Caring Today-Our History

Twenty plus years ago, when Caring Today was just a thought, the name family caregivers didn't exist. We knew there were tens of millions of family members who were taking on major new responsibilities caring for family members, who because of health challenges, were unable to fully care for themselves.

Our research showed this demanding responsibility contributed to these special folks experiencing high levels of stress, depression, feeling overwhelmed and very alone!

Our goal was to give these individual family members a home that reflected their responsibilities, deliver expert advice to help support their efforts, introduce them to others that shared their stories and reinforced the specialness of their care. Successful, this would be a great benefit and relief for them. We strongly believed this home fit well under the roof of family caregiver.

In the Winter 2004 the first issue of our magazine, Caring Today, Practical Advice for the Family Caregiver was launched, free to family caregivers through 8,000 physicians’ offices and today we can say... the rest is history.

Caring Today was an early pioneer to embrace and help shape this selfless family experience. Twenty years later, growing our resources to include ongoing online information, targeted blogs, newsletters and videos and our expert guest Bounce Back podcast we feel honored to do our part in continuing to find resources to help uplift this noble community that is now 50 million strong.
